Andy McAvin

Andrew Mark McAvin, born January 4, 1952, is an American performer whose career spans Broadway, professional theater, and voice acting. His stage work includes appearances on Broadway between 1977 and 1985, with credits in Camelot and The Sound of Music. Across his professional theatrical career, McAvin accumulated more than 120 stage productions.

Beyond the stage, McAvin built an extensive voice acting career totaling nearly 80 credits, with a significant portion of that work concentrated in anime dubbing for ADV Films and Seraphim Digital. Among his most recognized voice roles is Brian J. Mason, the antagonist in Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, a character described by cast and crew members as the "slime that walks like a man" voice type. He continued work in that franchise with the spin-off AD Police: To Serve and Protect. Additional anime credits include Ichiro Mihara in Angelic Layer, Aion in Chrono Crusade, Richard Mardukas in Full Metal Panic!, Director Kakuzawa in Elfen Lied, Exedol Folmo in The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and the narrator role in the ADV dub of Saint Seiya, among dozens of others. He also provided voices for the non-anime productions Halo Legends, Lady Death: The Motion Picture, and the Korean animated film My Beautiful Girl, Mari, as well as for Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris.

Outside of performing, McAvin is a certified instructor in powered paragliding. He has logged over 4,000 flights and several thousand hours of flight time and has trained more than 300 students. His work in the sport is documented in the 2005 film Into the Wind: The Sport of Powered Paragliding, directed by Chris Page, in which he appears as himself.
