About
Andrew Kober is an American stage and screen actor born on February 20, 1981, whose Broadway career has spanned from 2006 to 2025. He grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and is a descendant of Arthur Kober, his granduncle, who was born to a Jewish family in Eastern Europe before immigrating to the United States. Kober trained at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, earning a degree in Acting in 2006, after which he relocated to New York City.
Kober's breakthrough theatrical role came when he was cast as Margaret Mead in the Off-Broadway revival of Hair in 2008. He continued with the production through its 2009 transfer to Broadway and its subsequent 2010 transfer to London's West End. After Hair, he joined the ensemble of the Second Broadway Revival of Les Misérables, remaining with that company through late 2015. He then appeared in the Broadway revival of She Loves Me, a production notable for being the first Broadway show to be live-streamed internationally online.
In 2017, Kober appeared in the Broadway revival of Sunday in the Park with George and the Los Angeles premiere of Roman Holiday. That October, he joined the Broadway cast of School of Rock – The Musical. During the summer of 2018, he took a break from School of Rock to play Malvolio in a Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night at the Delacorte Theatre, a role he had also performed in a musical adaptation of the same play at that venue in September 2016. He returned to School of Rock following the Shakespeare in the Park run. His Broadway credits also include the play She Loves Me Not and the musicals Gypsy and The Queen of Versailles. Regional work includes productions of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Ken Ludwig's Baskerville, National Pastime, Sense and Sensibility, and Spamalot.
On screen, Kober has made guest appearances on Boardwalk Empire, House of Cards, Blue Bloods, and Pan Am, and appeared in the short film Chin Up. He is also a member of the comedy group The (M)orons, alongside fellow Broadway performers and writers Drew Gasparini, F. Michael Haynie, and Alex Brightman.
Kober married Farra Kober, director of social media and community for MSNBC, in 2012. The couple have a son, born in 2016, and Kober continues to reside in New York City.
