Andrew Knott

Andrew Knott is an English actor born on 22 November 1979 in Salford, England. He received his early training at the Oldham Theatre Workshop, where he developed the foundation for a career spanning film, television, theatre, and radio.

Knott's first significant screen role came in 1993 when he was cast as Dickon Sowerby in Warner Brothers' film adaptation of The Secret Garden, based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's novel. He subsequently appeared as Joe Green in Black Beauty. Toward the end of the 1990s, he took on the roles of Darren Featherstone and Liam Shepherd in the long-running British soap opera Coronation Street.

In 2004, Knott returned to the stage to join the National Theatre's production of Alan Bennett's The History Boys. The production toured internationally and brought Knott to Broadway in 2006, marking his debut on the New York stage. He reprised his role from the play in both a BBC radio adaptation and in Bennett's film version, which was directed by Nicholas Hytner.

On television, Knott is recognized for his portrayal of Henry Green in the drama series Where the Heart Is. He also appeared as Dirtbox in the sitcom Gavin & Stacey, as Rob in the BBC Three drama Spooks: Code 9, and in the series Drop Dead Gorgeous. In 2011, he appeared in "The National Anthem," an episode of the anthology series Black Mirror.
