About
Andrew Burnap is an American actor born on March 5, 1991, in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, where he attended South Kingstown High School before going on to study at the University of Rhode Island. He is the son of Allison and Tim Burnap.
Burnap launched his professional stage career through the Public Theatre in New York. In 2014, he appeared in the ensemble of the Public's revival of King Lear, a production that starred John Lithgow, Annette Bening, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Two years later, he took on the title role of Troilus in the Public's revival of Troilus and Cressida.
His Broadway career spans from 2019 to 2025. The role that brought him widespread recognition was Toby Darling in Matthew López's play The Inheritance, which first premiered in the West End before transferring to Broadway. For that performance, Burnap received the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play in 2020. In 2023, he returned to Broadway to portray King Arthur in the revival of the Lerner and Loewe musical Camelot, starring opposite Phillipa Soo as Guinevere in a production featuring a new book by Aaron Sorkin. That performance earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical. Also in 2023, he appeared off-Broadway in Spain, a play written by Jen Silverman in which he portrayed Joris Ivens opposite Marin Ireland. The play centers on the complications surrounding the filming of a movie financed by the Russian government during the Spanish Civil War. In 2025, Burnap appeared on Broadway in Othello.
Burnap has also built a notable television profile. In 2022, he starred as Phil in the Apple TV+ series WeCrashed alongside Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto, and that same year played Joseph Smith in the FX on Hulu limited series Under the Banner of Heaven, which featured Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar-Jones. In 2025, he appeared in the live-action Disney film Snow White, playing Jonathan, a character based on Prince Charming, opposite Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot.
