Her mother works as an aerospace engineer at NASA, and her father holds a finance position at a car company. Scott graduated from Glenda Dawson High School in 2015 and subsequently earned a BFA in musical theatre from the University of Michigan.

During her college years, Scott performed in summer productions at Music Theatre Wichita, appearing in shows including The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pippin. In her senior year of college, she was cast as Nabulungi, the female lead in the U.S. national tour of The Book of Mormon. On the television side, Scott took on the role of Whitney Chase in The Sex Lives of College Girls, Mindy Kaling's series that premiered on HBO Max on November 18, 2021. The show was renewed for two additional seasons before its cancellation in 2025. She also starred as Timberly Fox in Steve Levitan's Reboot, which debuted on Hulu on September 20, 2022.

Her additional producing credits include the 2023 Broadway revival of The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window, Gutenberg! The Musical!, and the 2024 revival of The Wiz.
