About

Alice Knowland (1879–1930) was an American actress whose career spanned both the stage and silent film. Born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, to Herbert Knowland and Fannie Warren, she went on to work in theater and later in Hollywood productions.

Knowland began her professional life as a theater actress in Boston before her career expanded to include Broadway, where she performed from 1906 to 1925. Her stage credits included the play Edgar Allan Poe and The Girl Patsy. She subsequently relocated to Los Angeles, where she appeared in films for Famous Players–Lasky, becoming known for her work in motherly roles during the silent era.

In her personal life, Knowland married Thomas Seymour in 1903. The couple had no children.
