About
Ali Louis Bourzgui is an American actor and singer born on August 31, 1999, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, who grew up in the Berkshires. His father is Moroccan-American and his mother is Italian-Irish American. Raised with regular exposure to Broadway productions, Bourzgui initially considered careers in environmental engineering or ornithology before the works of Joe Iconis, Mark Ruffalo, and Kimberly Akimbo drew him toward acting. He earned a BFA from Ithaca College.
Shortly after graduating from Ithaca College in 2021, Bourzgui made his professional stage debut on the first national tour of The Band's Visit, playing the role of Haled. His Broadway career began with a 2024 revival of The Who's Tommy, in which he played the titular role following a tryout run in Chicago in 2023. The performance earned him a Theatre World Award in 2024 and a Drama League Distinguished Performance Award nomination. He went on to appear in Company, The Lost Boys, and Hadestown, where he starred as Orpheus in 2025. His Broadway credits span from 2019 to 2026.
Outside of theatre, Bourzgui is a member of the folk band Resident Lightweight. He is Muslim. He was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
