About
Alfredo Robert was an Italian actor and film director born in 1877 who died in 1964. His career spanned both stage and screen across several decades, with work documented in European and American cinema as well as on the Broadway stage.
Robert made his Broadway appearance in 1923, performing in The Lady from the Sea. That same period coincided with activity in the film industry, where he had already appeared in the 1913 Italian production Il sire di Vincigliata, establishing an early screen presence before his New York stage credit.
His film work continued into the sound era, with roles in The Doctor's Secret and Paradise in 1931 and 1932 respectively. Throughout the 1930s Robert remained active, appearing in Doctor Antonio in 1937, Pietro Micca in 1938, and It Always Ends That Way in 1939. His screen career extended into the following decade with The King of England Will Not Pay in 1941 and Don Cesare di Bazan in 1942. Robert's final listed screen credit, Pact with the Devil, came in 1950. His career is among those documented in Harry Waldman's Missing Reels: Lost Films of American and European Cinema, published by McFarland in 2000.
