Adele Farrington

Adele Farrington (1867–1936) was an American actress who worked across stage and silent film throughout a career spanning several decades. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she built her professional foundation in the theater before transitioning to a prolific presence in motion pictures.

Farrington appeared on Broadway between 1900 and 1902, accumulating credits in both musical and dramatic productions. Her stage work during this period included the musical The Cadet Girl, the play A Modern Magdalen, and the musical Miss Prinnt.

Her film career extended from the mid-1910s through the late 1920s. In 1915, she took the lead role in This Is the Life, produced by the American Film Company, and performed her own stunts for the production. Among her many other screen appearances were False Colors (1914), Hypocrites (1915), The Devil's Bondwoman (1916), The Mate of the Sally Ann (1917), The House of Silence (1918), In Old Kentucky (1919), Black Beauty (1921), A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1921), The Scarlet Lily (1923), and Shadow of the Law (1926).

In her personal life, Farrington was married to and later divorced from actor Hobart Bosworth. Her relationship with Bosworth had preceded their marriage and was cited in a divorce proceeding against him in 1903, during which a boardinghouse keeper testified that the two had presented themselves as husband and wife while lodging there. Bosworth offered no defense in that suit.

Farrington died on December 19, 1936, in Los Angeles at the age of 69. Her funeral was held two days later, after which her body was cremated.
