About

Adam Goldberg is an American actor, filmmaker, musician, and photographer born on October 25, 1970, in Santa Monica, California. The son of Earl Goldberg, a former owner of the wholesale food business Goldberg and Solovy Foods, and Donna Gable, a psychologist, Goldberg has built a career spanning film, television, theater, and music over more than three decades.

Goldberg made his first major screen appearance in the 1992 Billy Crystal film Mr. Saturday Night, followed by the role of Mike Newhouse in Richard Linklater's Dazed and Confused in 1993. His profile rose considerably with his portrayal of infantryman Stanley Mellish in Steven Spielberg's 1998 war film Saving Private Ryan. Additional film credits include the role of Jerry in The Prophecy opposite Christopher Walken, Sol in A Beautiful Mind alongside Russell Crowe, and Denny in Déjà Vu opposite Denzel Washington. He took on lead roles in the independent productions The Hebrew Hammer, 2 Days in Paris, and the film (Untitled). Goldberg also wrote, directed, produced, and edited the features Scotch and Milk, I Love Your Work, and No Way Jose, and directed the IFC philosophical travelogue Running with the Bulls. His voice acting credits include Babe: Pig in the City, Homeward Bound II, and A Monster in Paris.

On television, Goldberg appeared as delivery boy Leo in the 1995 comedy series Double Rush before joining Friends in 1996 for a three-episode arc in the second season as Chandler's roommate Eddie. He later appeared in a nine-episode arc in the second season of the Friends spinoff Joey, playing Jimmy, Joey Tribbiani's best friend from high school. In 1997, he received an exclusive series development deal with ABC. He starred in the short-lived 2005 Fox series Head Cases and appeared in the ensemble cop drama The Unusuals, playing a New York City detective with brain cancer. He subsequently appeared in the ensemble series NYC 22. In 2014, Goldberg portrayed Mr. Numbers, one half of a hitman duo, in the first season of FX's Fargo — a role for which he learned American Sign Language — marking his second collaboration with creator Noah Hawley following The Unusuals. He played Dave Marks, a struggling comedian and Jim Gaffigan's best friend, for two seasons on The Jim Gaffigan Show on TV Land, shooting the pilot during a break from Fargo production. In 2017, he joined the cast of NBC's Taken as Kilroy, a computer hacker, during the show's second season. In 2019, he appeared in a supporting role on CBS's God Friended Me as tech entrepreneur Simon Hayes. Beginning in 2020, Goldberg starred opposite Queen Latifah in CBS's The Equalizer, a role he continued through 2025.

Goldberg's Broadway work took place between 2003 and 2004, with appearances in The 24 Hour Plays 2003 and The 24 Hour Plays 2004.

As a musician working under the moniker LANDy, Goldberg released his debut album Eros and Omissions on June 23, 2009, featuring Flaming Lips drummer Steven Drozd, with whom he had previously collaborated on the score for I Love Your Work. He later adopted the musical moniker The Goldberg Sisters, under which he released three albums, playing every instrument on the latter two except strings and horns. On June 7, 2011, he performed The Goldberg Sisters single "Shush" on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Goldberg also composed and arranged music for Running with the Bulls and No Way Jose, and contributed a song to The Hebrew Hammer soundtrack.

A photographer who works primarily with film and expired Polaroid, Goldberg published a photography book through Hat and Beard Press that included a limited vinyl edition of The Goldberg Sisters' Home: A Nice Place to Visit. He was hired to create forty short films for the French cellular company Orange during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, producing a six-second Vine for each film in competition. Goldberg is married to artist and designer Roxanne Daner, who contributed string performances to his recordings. The couple married on Halloween in 2014. Their first child, a son, was stillborn; their second son was born in November 2014, and a third son arrived in September 2018.
