About

Adam Brian Chanler-Berat, born December 31, 1986, in West Nyack, Rockland County, New York, is an American stage and film actor and singer. The son of Shelley Chanler and Bert Berat, he built his career primarily in theater, originating several roles across Broadway productions between 2009 and 2018.

Chanler-Berat first appeared in Next to Normal during its Off-Broadway run at Second Stage Theatre in 2008, playing the role of Henry. When the musical transferred to Broadway in 2009, he continued with the production and remained through its closing night three years later, the only cast member to do so from the original production to the final Broadway performance. His work on the show is documented on the 2009 Original Broadway Cast Recording.

His next Broadway credit came with Peter and the Starcatcher, in which he played the role of Boy. The production originated Off-Broadway before transferring to Broadway in early 2012, and Chanler-Berat stayed with it until its closing in January 2013. Between that production and his next Broadway appearance, he took on several regional and Off-Broadway roles, including Harold McClam in Fly By Night, Dylan Ebdus in The Fortress of Solitude, and Georges Seurat in Sunday in the Park with George. He also played Nino in Amélie Off-Broadway, a production that subsequently transferred to Broadway in 2017. Cast recordings exist for Fly By Night, The Fortress of Solitude, and the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Amélie, A New Musical. In 2018, Chanler-Berat returned to Broadway in the play Saint Joan, portraying the Dauphin, Charles VII.

Off-Broadway, Chanler-Berat appeared in a limited revival of Assassins, produced by Classic Stage Company and directed by John Doyle. Originally scheduled for spring 2020, the production ran from November 2, 2021 to January 24, 2022, with Chanler-Berat playing John Hinckley Jr. The production received nominations at the 2022 Lucille Lortel Awards, including Best Revival.

Beyond the stage, Chanler-Berat made an early television appearance in a 2006 episode of Law and Order. He appeared in the 2013 film Delivery Man, starring Vince Vaughn, in the role of Viggo. Beginning in 2021, he joined the cast of the HBO Max reboot of Gossip Girl, playing teacher Jordan Glassberg.
