About
Abby Mueller is an American actress and singer whose Broadway career spans from 2013 to 2021. Born and raised in Chicago, she comes from a family of performers: her father Roger Mueller, mother Jill Shellabarger, sister Jessie, and brothers Andrew and Matt are all involved in the performing arts. Mueller studied acting at Indiana University Bloomington.
Mueller made her Broadway debut in Kinky Boots in 2013, joining the production as a swing and understudy. The following year she entered the cast of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, a production in which her sister Jessie Mueller also played the title role of Carole King. In 2015, Abby Mueller was announced as the lead of the national tour of Beautiful, and that August she performed alongside Carole King on The Today Show.
Mueller originated the role of Jane Seymour in the Broadway production of SIX: The Musical. The show was scheduled to open on March 12, 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed its premiere. The week of the planned opening had carried particular significance for the Mueller family, as Jessie was appearing on Broadway in The Minutes and their brother Matt was completing his final week as Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Mueller departed SIX in August 2022, the same year she received a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble. The following month she performed as part of the Broadway and Vine concert series.
In 2024, Mueller made her New York City solo concert debut at 54 Below.
