About
Aaron Clifton Moten is an American actor born on February 28, 1989, in Austin, Texas. He attended St. Stephen's Episcopal School, where he first took to the stage at age 12 in the lead role of Jim Leonard's play The Diviners. That early experience led him to continue participating in his school's theatre program. He later trained at the Juilliard School, graduating in 2011.
Following his graduation from Juilliard, Moten began his professional career in New York City. His first credited stage work came that same year, when he played Claudio in a Two River Theater production of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. In 2012, he made his Broadway debut in a revival of Tennessee Williams's drama A Streetcar Named Desire. The following year, he appeared as Avery in Annie Baker's The Flick, a role that earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play.
Moten's screen career expanded steadily through the latter half of the 2010s and into the 2020s. From 2017 to 2018, he appeared as Travis Feldman, the son of Ruth Whitefeather Feldman and a business school graduate, in the Netflix sitcom Disjointed. In 2020, he played FBI employee Ben in the Fox drama series Next. His film work includes the role of Ham in Father Stu alongside Mark Wahlberg, and the role of Knowls in the historical action film Emancipation, both released in 2022. Beginning in 2024, he has starred as Maximus, a Brotherhood of Steel squire, in Amazon Prime Video's post-apocalyptic series Fallout.
In his personal life, Moten is married to Icelandic dancer Lilja Rúriksdóttir, whom he met while both were at Juilliard. The couple relocated to Iceland shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic, and Moten continues to reside there.
